Is Friendster finally making its comeback this 2024 amidst Meta's massive outage?

As reported by CNN Indonesia, the renowned social networking platform from the 2000s is contemplating a return "in the foreseeable future."

On the official domain Friendster.com, there is a statement indicating a potential revival, stating, "Bringing It Back to the People. Rediscover the charm of the early era of social networking, now refreshed with a modern twist. Friendster is better than ever and for the people." Additionally, there is mention of "a new era of personalized networking."

Presently, Friendster maintains a sign-up page for individuals interested in accessing the platform early. However, there have been no alterations or updates since CNN initially disclosed the news in January 2024.

Following the recent extensive outage of Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, Filipino users have been reminiscing about the nostalgia of Friendster through online discussions.

Nearly two years ago, a counterfeit Friendster website gained traction, igniting hopes for the social network's resurgence. In contrast to the previous occurrence, this website is hosted on the genuine Friendster.com domain, lending it greater credibility. This latest development suggests that the wishes of many may finally be realized.

Editor’s Note: Although the prospect appears legitimate, we advise caution to those considering signing up. It is prudent to await the platform's official relaunch before disclosing personal information such as email addresses.
